Cancel SRD Application

Use this guide if you want to stop your SASSA SRD R370 grant request through the official cancellation route. Cancelling is a serious step, so first check whether your real issue is pending status, a declined month, approved with no pay date, payment not received, lost phone access or wrong banking details.

Decide Before You Cancel SRD

Check whether cancellation is really the correct action. Many SRD problems need status checks, appeal, phone access or payment fixes instead.

Cancellation Route Use cancellation only when you want to stop the SRD grant request.
Details Needed South African ID number and the phone number used to submit your SRD request.
Before Cancelling Check whether your issue is actually pending, declined, unpaid or no pay date.

Do not cancel just because one month is pending, declined, unpaid or approved with no pay date. Use the guide for that specific status first.

When Cancelling SRD May Make Sense

Cancellation is mainly for people whose circumstances changed and who no longer need or qualify for SRD.

You No Longer Need SRD Your circumstances changed and you do not want the grant request considered anymore.
📄You Want to Stop the Request You want to stop the current SRD grant request through the official cancellation route.
⚠️You Understand the Effect Cancel only when you understand that your request may no longer be considered after cancellation.
🛡️You Suspect Profile Misuse If someone used your details, also contact SASSA through official fraud-help routes.

How to Cancel SRD Online

Use the official cancellation page only if you are sure you want to stop the SRD grant request.

1. Open the official cancellation page

Go to https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/cancellation. Do not use unofficial cancellation links, social media comments, WhatsApp helpers or private-message services.

Open official cancellation page

2. Enter your South African ID number

Enter the 13-digit South African ID number linked to your SRD grant request.

3. Enter the phone number used to submit your application

Use the cellphone number that was used when the SRD request was submitted. The official cancellation page uses this number before sending a PIN.

4. Send PIN and follow the prompts

After entering the required details, follow the official prompts carefully. Do not share the PIN with anyone.

5. Confirm only if you are sure

Confirm cancellation only when you are sure you want to stop the SRD grant request. Keep any confirmation, screenshot or reference for your records.

Do Not Cancel for the Wrong Reason

If your status is pending

Pending means the result is not final yet. Read the pending SRD status guide before making bigger changes.

If your status is declined

A declined month may need a decline-reason check and possible appeal, not cancellation. Start with the declined SRD status guide.

If your status is approved but no pay date

No pay date usually means payment scheduling is not showing yet. Use the approved but no pay date guide instead of cancelling.

If payment did not arrive

A missing payment may be a pay-date, banking or payment-method issue. Use the payment not received guide first.

If your phone number is wrong or lost

Use the change SRD phone number guide. Cancelling is usually not the best fix for phone-number access problems.

If your banking details are wrong

Use the update banking details guide if you are an approved beneficiary. Cancelling is not the correct fix for wrong payment details.

After Cancelling SRD

Check whether cancellation was completed

Check your SRD status later to confirm whether the grant request has been cancelled or changed.

If you need SRD again later

If your circumstances change and you need SRD again, use the reinstatement or reapplication guide to find the correct next step.

If cancellation was not done by you

If your grant request was cancelled without your permission, contact SASSA and check whether your phone number or profile details were changed.

If you suspect fraud

Use the SASSA contact details guide and keep any reference numbers, screenshots or written replies linked to your case.

Reinstate a Cancelled SRD Grant

If you previously cancelled your special COVID-19 SRD grant and want it considered again, use the official reinstate route.

Reinstatement is different from cancellation

Reinstatement is for people who cancelled before and later want the grant request considered again. Do not use cancellation if your real goal is to restart SRD.

The reinstate route also uses ID and phone details

The official reinstate page asks for the applicant’s South African ID number and phone number used to submit the grant request before sending a PIN.

Check your monthly result after reinstating

After reinstatement, the monthly result may still show pending, approved, declined, referred or another status after checks run.

Safety Tips Before Cancelling

Do not share your PIN

The official route may send a PIN to the phone number used for your SRD request. Do not share that PIN with anyone.

Do not use a stranger’s phone number

Use the cellphone number linked to your own SRD profile. Using someone else’s phone number can create access and verification problems.

Do not pay for cancellation help

Be careful of anyone asking for money to cancel, reinstate, reverse cancellation or “fix” your SRD profile.

Use the official page only

Fake pages may copy SASSA wording and ask for your ID number, phone number, OTP or banking details. Read the SRD scam warning guide before using links from social media or private messages.

Keep proof of what you did

If the official system gives confirmation or a reference, save it. It may help if you later need to contact SASSA.
