Update Banking Details for SRD R370
You can update banking details for SRD R370 when you are an approved beneficiary and need to change where future payments are sent. The official process uses your South African ID number, sends an OTP PIN to your registered SRD phone number, and may ask for identity verification before new payment details are accepted.
Change Your SRD Payment Details
Use the official banking update page, enter your ID number, complete the OTP step, finish identity verification if prompted, and use payment details registered in your own name.
Do not use someone else’s bank account or a cellphone number registered to another person. New payment details are normally used for future payments after verification.
When You Should Update SRD Banking Details
Your old bank account is closed
If the account used for SRD payment is closed, dormant or no longer safe to use, update your payment details before future payments are sent.
Your banking information was captured incorrectly
A wrong account number, wrong account type, wrong bank selection or incorrect payment method can delay or block payment.
You changed banks
If you moved to a new bank account in your own name, use the official banking update page and complete all verification steps.
Your cash-send route is no longer working
If your cash-send or money-transfer option is no longer available, update to a payment method that is registered in your own name.
The banking update asks for verification
If the banking update page sends you into identity verification, complete that step before assuming the banking change has been submitted.
How to Update SRD Banking Details
1. Open the official banking update page
Go to https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/banking-details-update. This route is for approved SRD R370 beneficiaries who want to change payment details.
2. Enter your South African ID number
Type the 13-digit South African ID number of the SRD applicant. Check every digit before you continue.
3. Receive the OTP PIN
The official page may send an OTP PIN to the cellphone number used during your SRD application. You need access to that number to continue.
4. Enter the PIN on the official page
Enter the PIN only on the official SASSA SRD page. Do not share the OTP PIN with anyone who claims they can change banking details for you.
5. Complete identity verification if prompted
After the PIN step, the page may ask you to complete identity verification before you can continue with the banking update. Use the identity verification guide if you are stuck at this step.
6. Choose your payment method
Select the payment method you want to use. If you choose a bank account, it must belong to you. If you choose a money-transfer option, the cellphone number must be registered in your name.
7. Submit and wait for verification
Submit the new payment details and wait for verification. New details are used for future payments after verification, not automatically for old payments already being processed.
Important Payment Rules
If You Cannot Receive the Banking OTP
The OTP goes to your SRD application number
The banking update page sends the OTP PIN to the mobile phone number used when you registered during your SRD application.
Do not use someone else’s number
Your SRD phone number is used for banking updates, identity verification, appeals and communication. Use a number you control and can access safely.
Change your SRD phone number first if needed
If your old SRD number is lost, inactive or no longer yours, use the change SRD phone number guide before trying to change banking details.
Try again later if the OTP is delayed
If the OTP does not arrive immediately, wait and try again later. Avoid repeatedly submitting the form in a short period.
When Updating Bank Details Will Not Fix the Problem
Your status is declined
Updating payment details does not fix a declined SRD month. If your status is declined, check the decline reason first and appeal only if you disagree with that decision.
Your status is pending
Pending means the monthly result is not final yet. Changing payment details does not force a pending month to become approved.
Your status is referred
Referred status may need identity verification. Use the referred-status or identity verification route before focusing on bank details.
Your old payment is already being processed
New banking details are normally used for future payments after verification. They may not redirect a payment that was already processed through a previous method.
Common Banking Update Mistakes
Using another person’s bank account
Do not use a parent’s, partner’s, friend’s or relative’s account. SASSA requires the payment account to belong to the beneficiary.
Using a money-transfer number not registered in your name
For money-transfer payments, the cellphone number must be registered in your own name. A number registered to another person can cause payment problems.
Closing the old account too early
Do not close or abandon your old payment method until you understand whether the update has been verified and whether any payment is already in progress.
Assuming the change is instant
Banking changes need verification. New details apply to future payments after the verification process is completed.
Ignoring identity verification
If the official page asks you to verify identity, complete that process. Do not assume the banking update is complete just because you entered the OTP PIN.
Using unofficial pages
Only use official SASSA SRD pages for banking changes. Avoid websites, social media accounts or WhatsApp helpers asking for your banking details or OTP.
After You Submit New Payment Details
Wait for verification
Your new details must be verified before they are used. Do not submit different details repeatedly while verification is still in progress.
If the banking update is still waiting or payment is delayed after changing details, read the SRD bank verification delay guide.
Check your SRD status again
After updating payment details, check your SRD status to see whether the month is approved, whether a pay date appears, or whether another issue is shown.
If approved but no pay date appears
If your month is approved but no payment date is visible yet, use the approved but no pay date guide.
If payment still does not arrive
If a pay date has passed and payment has not arrived, use the SRD payment not received guide.
If you need payment timing help
Use the SRD payment dates guide to understand payment windows, personal pay dates and what to check before travelling to collect money.

What do I need to start?
You need the South African ID number of the SRD applicant and access to the cellphone number used during the SRD application.
Why do I need an OTP PIN?
The OTP PIN helps confirm that the person changing the payment details has access to the SRD application phone number.
Why does the banking page ask for identity verification?
Banking details are sensitive. The official page may ask for identity verification before allowing payment details to be changed.
What if identity verification appears during banking update?
Complete the verification step first, then return to the banking update process. Do not assume the banking change is complete just because the OTP PIN was entered.
Can I use someone else’s bank account?
No. The bank account must belong to the approved SRD beneficiary.
Can I use a cellphone number registered to someone else?
No. If you choose a money-transfer option, the cellphone number must be registered in your own name.
Will new banking details fix old payments?
Not automatically. New details are normally used for future payments after verification.
Can updating payment details fix a declined status?
No. If your month is declined, deal with the decline reason first. Changing payment details does not approve a declined month.
